Programming FLASH From the Host

The flasm memory chip is in a socket on the ISE board. The chip can be removed and programmed with a prom programmer, and software supplied by Picture Elements supports this. However, there are times where it is best to program the flash in place, from the host. This can be done, and this section tells how.

For the following procedure to work, the ISE board should be jumpered so that the i960RP is held in reset and the configuration retry mode is off. Do this by installing jumpers in positions 1 and 2 of JP1.
